This privacy policy explains how Hong Kong Food Guide (Android package org.igears.hkfoodar) handles information. The app helps look up publicly available FEHD food premises licence records via DATA.GOV.HK, with an optional AR street finder. No account is required.
Information stored on your device
Official licence cache: FEHD public XML is downloaded and stored in app-private storage for offline use after a successful sync.
Saved premises: saved licence IDs are stored in on-device preferences and may be included in Android backup. Uninstalling the app removes local app data.
Optional location and camera (AR)
Precise location is used only while the AR lens is open to calculate distance and bearing. This version does not upload location to our servers.
Camera is used only for the live AR preview. This version does not capture, analyse, save, or upload camera frames. Device orientation is used locally to align AR direction cards.
Search and licence details work without camera or location. Denying those permissions does not block the rest of the app.
Advertising and purchases
The free version may show Google AdMob banner and interstitial ads. Google and its partners may process advertising-related identifiers under Google’s policies.
You can remove ads forever with a one-time Google Play purchase (product org.igears.hkfoodar.removeads). Purchase state is handled by Google Play Billing; we do not receive your full payment card details.
Data source and children
Licence content comes from FEHD open datasets via DATA.GOV.HK. We are not FEHD and do not represent government enforcement.
The app is not directed to children and is not a Designed for Families product.
